PROGRAM 2011 - 6th Edition

'ARPEGGIOS'

Introducing the sixth edition of the Festival LakeComo we can not forget to remember our long history.
We are the first festival in the region conceived as contoinuos exchange between music and territory, including re-evaluation and rediscovery of art places, as well as the pleasure of meeting. We first introduced bilingual programs and had the pleasure to present 41 high-profile concerts ranging from baroque to contemorary music. We are also the only festival in the region who has composer in residence and presenting dozens of world première...

We guested pianists such as Alessandro Marangoni, Roberto Prosseda, Nazzareno Carusi, Marco Sollini, Michael Glenn Williams, contraltista Tadashi Miroku, the harpsichordist Silvia Rambaldi, the Sax Quartet Accademia, two stars of the crossover as Ponticellos and Niniwe vocal quartet, the flutist Claudi Arimany, the violinist Fabrizio von Arx, the cellist Peter Salvatori, the viola player Maurizio Barbetti and many other prestigious names that I cannot list here for space reasons.

It is not for presumption that we list all that, but because at the end of many years of hard work we are finally totally free. Free from politics we have always been, but, as you will see, this year we do not display logos of provinces, municipalities or other entities. We believe that we do not need their sponsorship to pursue our artistic ideal, or we do not have to stop our activities because the institutions, that have less and less to give (also in ethical terms), ignore or try to lobotomized us. The auduence has always followed our concerts and this is our victory. In a rare view of entrepreneurship (at least rare in our country), our choice is to continue our artistic journey only with the support of the public stating that total freedom of thought that also our democracy should provide.

In this view I included myself for the first time in several concerts. If past years I have relegated my participation just in one concert of the season, this year my work as artistic director is in shadow and emerge rather the performer one. I called friends around me, I work with for years (Lurana Lubello, Dominique Piana, Monica Sanchez...) creating a various calendar, but in line with the principles that have always guided the our artistic direction: rediscovery of rare repertoire and innovation, new music, support to musician/composers. This turn in programming leads the harp to the fore: 'Arpeggios' is the leading word and to harp is dedicated the 2011 season of LakeComo Festival.
