SERGIO PATRIA (CELLO)
Sergio Patria was 16 years old when he made his début as soloist with the “Orchestra della Radio Svizzera Italiana” conducted by Otmar Nussio.
He took his diploma with the best marks at the Conservatory of Alessandria with E.Roveda, and then he specialized with A.Navarra at the “Accademia Chigiana” of Siena, with A.Baldovino at the “Accademia di Santa Cecilia” of Rome and with G.Selmi.
He has been for some years the first soloist cello solista in the Symphony Orchestra of Bogotà. Then he collaborated with the “Orchestra di Santa Cecilia” of Rome and as the first cello at the Stadttheater of Lucerna, where he was then invited every year to take part in the prestigious Orchestra of the International Swiss Festival.
In 1974 he won the prize "Migros" (Zurigo) for chamber music.
He was cello teacher at the Conservatory of San Cristobal (Venezuela), at the Conservatory of the Naztional University of Colombia, at the Conservatory and at the Municipal School of Lucerna, at the Conservatory of Alessandria, at the High Specialization School of Saluzzo, at the orchestral courses of Lanciano and at the vocational training courses organized by the I.R.Fo.P. Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia.
From 1977 to 2007 he taught at the Conservatory of Tourin, where he also played the role of the first cello at the Teatro Regio from 1974 to June 1999. In 2002 he was again a teacher at the courses of the High Specialization School of Saluzzo.
He knows and popularizes the Alexander Method and he was among the first musicians in Italy with Konrad Klemm to follow Noam Rennen’s lessons (Alexander’s disciple), one of the first teacher of the Alexander Method in the world.
As performer in concerts for cello and orchestra, he played under the guide of important conductors, such as: Y.Ahronovitch, R.Chailly, O.Nussio, T.Costin, S.Caduff, E.H.Beer, M.Horvat, S.Lorant, B.Martinotti, A.Peiretti, M.Peiretti, F.Zigante. In April he played for the first time the Rapsody for cello and e orchestra (composed for him) by A.Peiretti with the Symphony Orchestra of Sanremo both for the symphonic festival of this town and at the “Sala Verdi” of the Conservatory of Tourin.
As soloist and chamber player in different chamber groups, of which he was also the founder, he made and makes concert activity in Italy and abroad with important musicians and soloists.
ELENA BALLARIO (PIANIST AND COMPOSER)
Elena Ballario, was born in Biella. At the same time as she was studying piano she dedicated herself to the violin and composition. After her diploma she attended Maria Golia’s lessons and some specialization courses, among which the most important with M.Frager at the Conservatory of Lucerna and with P.N.Masi at the “Accademia Internazionale Superiore di Musica” of Biella where she obtained the Diploma and the special Mention for the courses of chamber music and piano directed by the Master Pier Narciso Masi.
She began her concert career in 1980 both as soloist, soloist with orchestra and with several chamber groups for important associations in Italy and abroad.
She obtained the testimonial in ministerial competitions for titles and examinations to teach Chief Piano, Minor Piano, Chamber Music and Piano Accompanist. She is teacher at the Conservatory of Tourin.
Since the year 2000 she has begun the activity of composition and dedicated herself at first to the transcription and the elaboration for several instrumental and vocal groups, excerpts for orchestra, piano and for singing and piano of different ages creating monographic programs dedicated to G. Rossini (Soirées Musicales and Pechées de Vieillesse) and G. Verdi (a selection of chamber arias), to the operetta, to the fairy tales (“Pinocchio” Musical Comedy with original musics, transcription of “Pierino e il lupo” for quintet and so on) and to the opera, played by the NUOVO INSIEME STRUMENTALE ITALIANO of which she is the pianist and with the collaboration of performers such as Luciana Serra, Ugo Pagliai, Pamela Villoresi, Paola Gassman, String Quintet of the RAI National Orchestra. After the first trancriptions she produced original works for piano solo, cello and piano, for trio, for string quintet and string orchestra.
The Nuovo Insieme Strumentale Italiano recorded three CDs with her original works and transcription.
Some of her compositions have been included in their repertoires by several soloists and ensembles and often played in Italy and abroad. Among the most important seats: “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia” Sala Petrassi and Sala Santa Cecilia in the “Parco della Musica”, “Emilia Romagna Festival”,”Festival della Poesia” of Parma, “Festival della Letteratura” of Verona, “Settembre Dantesco” of Ravenna, Festival of Ravello, Switzerland, Bolzano “Sala Monteverdi-Amici della Lirica”, Slovenia, Cina (“Istituto di Cultura” of Canton and Bejing), France (Nizza “Università del mediterraneo”) and Spain.
Numerous are her works for didactis, for example the new collections for piano with the title “Suona con Camilla”. Of recent pubblication (Novembre 2008) for the publishing house Volontè of Milan and distributed by Carisch, the method of Scales and Arpeggios with theoretical Introduction for Music Conservatories.
